Server Technology

At Trick Hosting we use HP DL385 series servers.  This gives the power to host your most intense applications and websites.

Below are some of the features that each one of our servers incorporate.

  • Dual AMD Opteron dual cores at 2.4ghz each per core for a total of 9.6ghz per server.
  • 4 to 32GB of DDR memory depending on what type of server IE:database, webserver, mail server
  • 6x 72.3GB hard drives in raid 5, 5 for daily use and one for hot-swap spare.
  • Dual 1000mb network cards
  • Off Site Backup through encrypted ssh tunnels. Daily Tape backups are taken at off site to keep your data safe.

We support the Open Souce Project fully and use Ubuntu Linux on all servers for the Host operating systems. We use virtualized technology to reduce physical space requirements. Our use of Virtual Box (the technology use to host multiple OS's on one machine) allows us to reduce energy consumption and give us a greener foot print. It also help in server scalability. We can now move virtual machines i.e.:web server from one physical server to another with out any down time. What does this mean to you? If the physical host is being overloaded and all services must be migrated to another (more powerful server) machine it can be done with out a glitch of your website. How many other hosts can offer the same reliability?

VBoxTool is the control for automated start and stops of all the virtual hosts. We thank that team for their project.
